Good Book, Bad Company April 20, 2009

I initially ordered two (2) books from Amazon.com. This book was excellent, which they sent me two (2) copies of and billed me for two copies also. The other book, "Chicken Coops, 45 Building Plans For Housing Your Flock" turned out to be a total sham. There were several interesting coops, however, there were no "Plans" except for the most basic of information. I was angry about my order, since I was sent two copies of the same book, and canceled "Amazon Prime" the same day I received my order. To add insult to injury, my bank account was charged $79.00 three days ago for a program that I opted not to receive the same day I received my order.

The second book, "Chickens In Your Backyard" had a wealth of information and also offered some very important advice for building Chicken Coops. If you're new to raising chickens, then this book would be a "must-read" publication for those of us that are just beginning to raise our own flocks. Find a reputable company to purchase these books, otherwise you'll wind-up like me - out over a hundred dollars for a twelve or thirteen dollar book.

WELL WRITTEN, INFORMATIVE AND HUMOROUS March 24, 2009

This is an excellent book and very easy to understand all the author's concepts. She doesn't talk over your head, uses her own experiences with chickens as examples, and manages to inject humor whenever possible. She covers everything the beginner needs to know and then some.

From my perspective as a beginner, with only vague memories of raising chickens as a five year old child, and as a "thought-I-knew-what-was-required" adult, this book was an eye opener. Owning chickens requires very much the same responsibilities as owning cats or dogs or any other animal. I've decided to go ahead with my chicken raising project as a result of Luttmann's book, but if you, like some, aren't sure whether you really want to deal with the various responsibilities, THIS is definitely the book YOU SHOULD READ!

The book is never dull, dry or boring - far from being 'clinical', and yet extremely informative. Excellent index and appendix, full of useful contact info for further reading. This is the instruction book which all other such books should be styled after!

Very well worth the price of the book!

This was a really good book. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to know how to raise a small flock for fun or profit. The book helped us enormously! The seller shipped it promptly and securely. I recommond not only this book but also buying from this seller.

Chickens in your backyard is a good over all starter book. It would have been a little better if it specified dimensions for coup and nesting areas.
