5 out of 5 stars My favorite pregnancy resource   November 14, 2009
B. Blandford (Flint, TX)
I read 4 pregnancy books - yes I might be a little compulsive - and this one is my favorite. I like that it comes from a trusted resource, and I like that it goes through month by month how my baby is developing, what is happening with my body, and what to expect from my visits with my health care provider. I found it easy to read, unbiased, and up to date. The book is just over 600 pages long, but the month by month descriptions are only 265 pages of that. The remainder is divided into three sections - "decision guides for pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood," "pregnancy reference guide," and "complications of pregnancy and childbirth." The decision guides cover topics such as circumcision, breast vs. bottle feeding, prenatal testing, and returning to work. The section on complications of pregnancy and childbirth covers why certain symptoms occur, prevention and self-care, and when to call your doctor. I like that I can look at only the issue I am dealing with rather than having them mixed in with my month to month summaries. As a nurse and a soon-to-be first time mom, I highly recommend this book.

4 out of 5 stars Recommended resource for new parents   November 4, 2009
Robert Brunner
As first-time parents, we wanted a handy reference for what to expect in pregnancy. My mother-in-law, a retired nurse, checked out several books at the library and recommended this one. It is well organized and has been useful so far.

5 out of 5 stars the best $20 I have ever spent   November 2, 2009
Gosia
I bought this book after reading positive reviews on Amazon when I just got pregnant and I have been reading parts of it at least once a week since then (I'm 7 months pregnant now). My first favorite part describes the child's development week after week in detail. It's so interesting to learn what is happening with your Little One at all these stages. My second favorite part is "Common concerns and questions of pregancy". It literally answered all my questions and concerns I have had since the beginning of the pregancy. It's a great relief to learn that the symptoms you have are a normal part of pregnancy, that every woman has them, and that there is nothing to worry about. It's very reassuring and gives you a piece of mind! Another part describes the delivery in detail, pain relief options and how to take care of an infant. I think all these parts are extremely useful for first-time mothers like me.
In sum, the book is written in a very objective way always giving you options and giving you an opportunity to take a well-informed decision. I think it's one of the best $20 I have ever spent.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent layout easy to read and a lot of good information   October 30, 2009
Expectant1
This book has a great layout. Each month comes as its own section and each section is divided into five parts, your baby's growth, your body, your emotions, appointments with your health care provider and when to call a health care professional. It also has different reference guides and information on what to do in different health situations. It is also easy to read which makes it so nice. Great book.

5 out of 5 stars The most comprehensive pregnancy book out there!   October 25, 2009
A. Shaneberger (Up North, MI)
I love this book. Week, by week, I can follow along with how me and my baby are changing and developing. Hubby doesn't mind reading it either since the sections are broken into to smaller bits to read. Great book! Highly recommend!
