Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
Congratulations, you're expecting a baby! What you may not be expecting is all of the requisite gear you "need" to look after your dear bundle. Fear not. Denise and Alan Fields, authors of Bridal Bargains, are here to tell you what's super and what's silly, and how to find it at the best price. You'll learn all about how (and where) to shop for a crib and dresser (including how to get European styling at reasonable prices), what you need in bedding and what can be skipped (a hint: no baby requires the $200 quilt!), which clothing brands are safest and least expensive, and how to shop for monitors, toys, car seats, strollers, books, videos, and more. The authors have field-tested every major brand (and several of the minor ones), and they provide star ratings and annotations at the end of every chapter. A helpful feature in each chapter called "Wastes of Money" will steer you away from $35 Baby Air Jordans and frilly diaper stackers that match your bedding. If that's not enough, they offer a money-back guarantee: If the book doesn't save you at least $250 in baby expenses, they'll refund the price of the book. Well researched and written in a witty and comfortable tone, Baby Bargains should be required reading for every safety- and money-conscious parent-to-be. --Rebecca A. Staffel

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Frugal Parents   November 21, 2009
A. Shaneberger (Up North, MI)
It's true that some suggestions in this book seem like common sense, but not everyone is as bright as you! Really though, this book offers excellent suggestions in terms of cost and safety. We have found it to be accurate and very helpful so far.

5 out of 5 stars We call this the "Bible" at our house   November 18, 2009
GO Girl (Northern California)
We refer to this book for EVERYTHING baby! Of course we checked with Consumer Reports and consulted the many reviews found online and with other new parents and what they've figured out along the way but all in all if you followed only the info in this book, you'll be in great shape to not only save money but keep your baby safe, safe, safe. We're going to give this to all our friends who are having babies in the future! Don't hesitate...buy this awesome book!

5 out of 5 stars This book is a godsend!   November 9, 2009
Marti Bier (Austin, TX United States)
Figuring out what you need for your first baby is a nightmare! This book seriously helps you figure out what you really need, explains the features of all of these foreign items, and then provides recommendations of the good, the bad and the ugly. I have brought this book with me to the store to register and it really really has been so helpful.

5 out of 5 stars Must Have!!!   November 8, 2009
M. Lovejoy
Several people suggested this book to me but I didn't think I'd need it. I'm pretty savy at finding deals and doing research on my own. I'm so glad I listened and ordered the book. Being pregnant with my first child is daunting enough, with this book I could key in on what I wanted and what I don't actually need. Who needs to spend $100 on a comforter for a crib when the baby can't even use it until past 1 yrs old? Plus, I can see what I think is best, pass the book to my husband and he can look and see if he agrees. Saves us time in the store determing what we want and saves on a lot of stress!

5 out of 5 stars full of information   November 8, 2009
Bethany J. Sharp (US)
This book attempts to answer every conceivable question that a new parent would have. Some of the questions were not pertinent to my situation, but overall, this book was very helpful. Provides a list of qualities to look for and things to avoid when buying common baby items. Worth the money!
