Product Description
The TemporalScanner Thermometer is a totally non-invasive system with advanced infrared technology providing maximum ease of use with quick, consistently accurate measurements. Advanced, patented technology measures temperatures with a gentle stroke across the forehead. The TemporalScanner Thermometer has been clinically tested for accuracy compared to rectal thermometers and temperature sensors inserted in the heart during course of patient treatment and accepted for use in major hospitals, making it the ideal thermometer for use with newborns, infants, children or adults. The TemporalScanner has patented software, providing arterial heat balance. This unique process determines temperature by accurately measuring the balance between the tissues warming from arterial blood and tissues cooling (warming) caused by heat loss (gain) to the environment.

3 out of 5 stars just ok   November 18, 2009
Candee Homer (Santa Barbara, CA)
I had higher hopes for this product. It is a bit cumbersome on a small forehead/temporal area to use and it is not that accurate. I usually do it 3 times and take an average. I also do it on myself to be sure it is measuring correctly. If you can use a good old oral or rectal themometer they are much more accurate.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use - the same one as my doctor!   November 10, 2009
Shopping Mom of 3
I love this thermometer! It is very easy and quick to use (although it may take some practicing to learn how to do it right) and as someone else mentioned, you don't have to buy those plastic head covers like you do with the ear thermometers. I used it for a week and then noticed at an appointment that it is the same thermometer that my pediatrician uses! I am very happy with it.

1 out of 5 stars Temperature is not right   October 21, 2009
Gale Kieng (Huntingtown, md United States)
I bought this item and are finding the temp is not right. One minute your 98.7 and then another your 99.1 - I used another device and I was normal temp. So I don't think this item is accurate.

1 out of 5 stars NOT ACCURATE AT ALL!!!!!!!!   October 19, 2009

This has got to be the worst most innaccurate thermometer I have ever owned....my daughter was sick and I had taken her temp with it while she was in bed sleeping, I got a reading of 105.9...I nearly passed out, knowing a high fever like this is very dangerous,so I packed her up and took her to the Emergency Room at 6 in the morning thinking I had a real emergency with a child who had a very high fever, they took her temperature as soon as we got there and got a reading of 102.2, they had asked me why I thought her temp was almost 106, I explained to them that I had taken it at home at that is what the thermometer read. They then asked me what type of thermometer I was using, I told them that I was using the Exergen temporal forehead thermometer. Well, my husband, luckily had put the thermometer in my purse before I had left, and the nurses suggested that I take her temp again with the Exergen thermomter just curious to see what it would read again...so we took her temp again and it had still read 105.9, so the nurse there brought me a brand new 9 volt battery for the thermometer, we put the new battery in took her temp again....105.9 again!!!!!!! I took my temp with it, it read 103.5, I WAS NOT SICK, and had a normal reading on the hospitals thermometer, so needless to say the hospital officials explained to me that they would not suggest anyone buy this thermometer, because they are NOT accurate, and they suggest either the ear thermometers or the digitals. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!!!

1 out of 5 stars AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!! AWFUL!!!!   October 4, 2009

Avoid this thing like the plague. As many others have said, the readings are all over the place, and can't be trusted. Thre readings will go from 97.1 to 100.2 in a flash. The margin of error is completely unacceptable. Your child could have a fever of 100.2, and you won't even know it because this thermometer is a joke.
